Eligibility Criteria

M.Sc./ equivalent B. Tech. students with excellent academic records in Life Sciences (Botany, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Zoology, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science), Bioinformatics, Library Sciences and MCA alone are eligible. Preference will be given to post graduate students (M.Sc.)

The students interested in pursuing the project work at IFGTB should have obtained 75% aggregate marks and above upto the preceding semester for UG (B. Tech.) and 70% aggregate marks and above upto the preceding semester for PG.

Internship sessions
Winter internship       : 1^st December to 28^th Febuary

Students are attached to Research Supervisor for studies spanning a minimum duration of 3 months and maximum 6 months culminating in a project thesis/ report. The broad research areas of the supervisors could be found in the website link "Internship training". Students would also be provided a certificate for having undergone the internship.

Summer internship   : 1^st April to 30^th June

Students are attached to a Research Supervisor for studies spanning a minimum duration of 3 months and maximum 6 months culminating in a project thesis/ report. The broad research areas of the supervisors could be found in the website link "Internship training". Students would also be provided a certificate for having undergone the internship.

Summer internship for students desirous of having a shorter duration of 1 or 2 months could also apply. Students are attached to a Research Supervisor to participate in a study to be decided by the research supervisor. However, due to the shorter duration, no project thesis/report is envisaged. Students would be provided a certificate for having undergone the internship. Internship selection under this category (1 or 2 months) will be made only after considering students who have opted under the 3-6 months category

Selection procedure

• Application form and the details on the Research area and supervisors for student project work are provided in the navigation link "Application form".
  
  
• The list of research area and supervisors available for each session will be updated by 15th August and 5th March for the respective internship sessions.


• Applications shall be received between 1^st October to 15^th October for Winter internship, and 10^th March to 20^th March for Summer internship. No applications will be entertained before or after the mentioned dates.


• Duly filled in applications in prescribed format may be submitted by post to The Director, IFGTB, PB 1061,Forest Campus, R.S. Puram, Coimbatore-641 002, Tamil Nadu.


• Applications forwarded by the Principal and Head of Department of the college complete in all respects will be scrutinized and short listed. Incomplete applications and applications sent by e-mail will not be considered.


• The list of successful candidates will be displayed on the IFGTB website by 1^st November and 25^th March, and will also be communicated to the Principals/ HoD and the student by email.


• The project work of the selected candidates will commence from 1^st December and 1^st April

The Director, IFGTB will be the final authority to decide on the selection and admission of candidates for project work.
